Keeping track of your sales tasks is key to winning deals. Odoo’s Activities feature helps sales teams schedule and manage follow‑up tasks like calls, meetings, emails, or document uploads tied directly to your leads, opportunities, or customers.

Step-by-Step Instructions

 

  1. Understand Activity Types

Navigate to CRM → Configuration → Activity Types to view available options:

  • Email – schedule a follow-up email reminder
  • Call – prompt to make a phone call
  • Meeting – plan a scheduled meeting
  • To Do – set general tasks
  • Upload Document – prompt to add files

Applications like Sales or Accounting may add extra types.

  1. Create a Custom Activity Type
  1. Go to CRM → Configuration → Activity Types
  2. Click New.
  3. Fill in:
    • Name – e.g. “Send Proposal”
    • Action – e.g. Email, Phonecall, Upload Document
    • Default user and Summary (optional)
  4. Use Chaining to automate next steps:
    • Suggest Next Activity – user can choose a follow‑up task
    • Trigger Next Activity – automatically schedule next task upon completion
    • Set timing (Days/Weeks after previous task)
  5. Click Save

 

  1. Add Activities to Records
  • From any record with a chatter, click Log Activity or the Activities button
  • Choose Activity Type, add Due Date, set Assigned To
  • Click Schedule

For bulk scheduling, use Kanban or List View and add activities there.

  • When a task is completed, click Done beside it in the chatter
  • This clears the To Do and keeps your pipeline accurate
  • If chaining or suggestions are set, follow-up tasks will appear automatically

  2. Click New, then:
    • Name the plan (e.g. “High-Priority Lead Sequence”)
    • Add activity lines:
      • Type (Call, Meeting, etc.)
      • Summary details
      • Assignment options (Ask at Launch / Default User)
      • Timing (e.g. 2 days after Plan Date)
  3. Save the plan

  2. From chatter, click ActivitiesPlan
  3. Select your plan and Plan Date
  4. Assign users (if required)
  5. Click Schedule
    • This will automatically create tasks as per plan deadlines
