The Portal Owner in Zoho Social is the user who first creates the account and has the highest level of administrative control. This role is responsible for managing subscriptions and key account settings. If the current Portal Owner leaves your organization or needs to pass on responsibilities, Zoho Social allows for ownership transfer to another qualified team member.

Transferring the Portal Owner

 

Only a Portal Admin or the current Portal Owner can initiate the transfer.

 

Requirements:

  • The new Portal Owner must already be a Portal Admin.
  • Users with roles like Brand Admin, User, or Limited Publisher cannot be assigned Portal Owner rights.

Steps to transfer ownership:

  1. Go to Settings > Portal Settings.
  2. On the Portal Info page, click Edit.
  3. Select a user from the Portal Owner dropdown (must be a Portal Admin).
  4. Click Save.

Ownership will now be transferred to the selected user.

 

Replacing the Portal Owner (For Single-User Licenses)

 

If your Zoho Social subscription allows only one user (e.g., on Standard or Professional plans), you can still replace the current Portal Owner by inviting a new user to take over.

 

Steps to replace the Portal Owner:

  1. Go to Settings > Portal Settings.
  2. Click Invite Member next to Portal Owner.
  3. Enter the email address of the new member.
  4. Click Invite.

Once the invited member accepts the invitation, the system will automatically assign them as the new Portal Owner.

Tips

  • Make sure the new Portal Owner is fully aware of their responsibilities, especially subscription and billing management.
  • Always ensure at least one Portal Admin exists in your account to allow smooth transitions.
  • For seamless continuity, complete the ownership transfer before the current owner leaves the organization.
